May 2012 - Farr High School pupils visit Forss Wind Farm

Ten students from Farr High school in Caithness visited Forss Wind Farm recently.

The pupils were given a tour by RES wind farm manager, Garry McGougan who explained how the wind farm operates. Pupils were able to see the turbines up close including the inside of a turbine tower.

The pupils, who ranged from 13 to 18, are studying Design and Technology subjects and several of the older students are studying for an SQA in Energy. Visits to sites such as Forss Wind Farm are integral to their course as they expose the pupils to a relevant technology and potential career opportunities in the local area.

Rachel Anderson, RES Community Relations Manager, said: "RES is delighted to support local schools in the Caithness area by providing informative visits to Forss Wind Farm. Renewable energy technologies such as onshore wind are vital to securing our future energy supply in Scotland and providing jobs for future generations."
